Positive Discrimination is "Toxic"
I have been campaigning against the introduction of positive discrimnination in the workplace. I believe it is wrong in principle, and counter-productive in practice.
For anyone who is interested in this debate, I would urge them to read the Independent on Sunday interview with TV presenter Kat Akingbade, which highlights the debilitating and divisive effect the policy has. As Ms Akingbade says (after realising she was awarded a top tv job on the basis of her ethnicity): "Positive discrimination robs an individual of drive and self-motivation; it completely undermines the achievements and abilities of the hard-working and truly gifted".
