Talent Spotting
Today, I visited Saville Consulting, another great example of an innovative business on our doorstep. Set up by Professor Peter Saville, the business is based in Claygate and pioneers innovative ways to recruit staff - including devising pyschometric and competence based tests. His techniques are used to recruit talent, from commercial leaders to specialist roles, in business and government, in the UK and around the world.
I am also interested in the development of these recruitment techniques from a social perspective. If they help recruiters spot talent and potential, in addition to relying on paper qualifications and professional experience, they can promote social mobility and strengthen meritocracy.
Peter's personal story is fascinating - you can read a bit about him here. And you can watch him talk about his approach on BBC Breakfast here.
