The Case for Extradition Reform
Sir Scott Baker (a senior judge) has just published a long report reviewing UK extradition arrangements - essentially concluding that little needs to change, either with the European Arrest Warrant or the UK-US treaty.
I have written a piece for the Daily Mail, joining calls for the government to ignore the report and institute a radical overhaul to safeguard innocent British citizens currently subject to an abusive and arbitrary system. You can read the piece here.

I am mystified how Scott Baker comes to the conclusion he has. In any case the representatives of the previous government should of struck a better deal or allowed or closed the talks down. They are supposed to represent the interests of the British people. Does anyone know if a petition exists to ask the house to debate the current state of affairs with the US/UK extradition treaty?
