Elmbridge Business Network - AGM

Today, I attended Elmbridge Business Network’s AGM, held over breakfast at the Civic Centre in Esher. It was valuable opportunity to meet local entrepreneurs – like Sally Findlay, who runs a promotions business in East Molesey, and Ajeet Singh Ahuja, who manages a communications store in Cobham (see below). I was briefed on a range of local issues – including business rates, parking charges, the regulatory burden and corporation tax (which the Conservatives have pledged to cut).

The Network brings together local businesses and councillors. It focuses on providing practical support. Over the last year, it has promoted the Elmbridge Civic Improvement Fund, a grant scheme to improve the environment and amenities for local business, and the ‘More Card’ business discount scheme. Next year, the council will press ahead with its agenda, including a program to encourage local businesses to take advantage of opportunities in local public procurement.

My congratulations to Derek Williamson who stepped down as Network Chair - after a highly successful tenure – and best wishes to Rachel Lake, who has picked up the mantle.
