No to the Snoopers Charter

Parliament has yet to debate the proposals, but already there are deep concerns about Home Office plans to resuscitate a Bill that would enable mass surveillance of our email, text message, internet and phone communications.

Today, the Mail reports the letter I sent to the Home Secretary signed by 40 Conservative MPs objecting to the plans. You can read the reporting here.

Thank you Mr Raab! As an web developer I know the potential for the huge amounts of data that can be collected about people through intercepting all internet traffic. What I cannot understand is how the security services believe that the tiny minority set on terrorism or serious crime somehow won't encrypt and otherwise obfuscate their communications? The entire exercise strikes me as cracking a nut with a bulldozer...
